Habitat for Humanity International was founded in 1976 in Americus Georgia by Millard and Linda Fuller.
We are a nonprofit organization founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a decent, safe and affordable place to live. We build with people in need regardless of race or religion. We welcome volunteers and supporters from all backgrounds and cultures.
In the U.S., Habitat for Humanity lends no-profit, no-interest mortgage loans to its beneficiary families. By 2004 organizations in more than 100 countries had built 50,000 homes in the U.S. and more than 150,000 world wide. In 2008 Habitat raised the walls on its 300,000th house in Florida, the next day work began on the 300,001st house in Zacapa, Guatemala. Habitat for Humanity has done great things around the world and doesn't appear to be slowing down anytime soon.
